The environment is at the heart of our beliefs and values. Our quest is to come to understand the wilderness better, to respect it, to care for it and to share it with our guests.
Wilderness Safaris is privileged to be based and work in some of the most pristine, delicate and valuable areas on Earth. These areas cover an extraordinary diversity of ecosystems, wildlife and scenery and offer some of Africa's most impressive and untouched wildlife experiences.
We strive to ensure that our impact on these areas is minimal, that we do not compromise the integrity of our resources and that all our actions in fact add value to, enhance and conserve these wonderful parks. One of our core beliefs is that communities that border on wildlife areas have key conservation roles and undeniable rights to their heritage; we aim to form partnerships with the local people to help create an ethic of land stewardship and conservation practice for present and future generations.
Wilderness Safaris supports a wide variety of wildlife management, research and education projects in southern Africa - either through its camps, or through the independent Wilderness Safaris Wildlife Trust. A portion of each guest's fare is allocated to this Trust, which goes to Trust-approved projects. The projects deal with the needs of existing wildlife populations, seek solutions to save endangered species and provide education and training for local people and their communities.
Our Children in the Wilderness programme fulfils one of our cornerstone ideals: that of educating the children of Africa, and inspiring them with a love of and commitment to their natural heritage. This applies in particular to those living on the boundaries of many of Wilderness Safaris' properties and camps but also includes children in areas where Wilderness Safaris will in all likelihood never operate.
In all these ways, Wilderness Safaris strives to make a difference to Africa, its wildlife and its people.
