May 2013 – Wilderness Safaris’ DumaTau Camp in Botswana has not only been listed as one of the best new hotels in the world in the annual US Condé Nast Traveler Hot List, but also as one of ‘The Best New Hotels to Splurge On’.
Published in the May edition, this prestigious listing features the editors’ hand-picked selection of their favourite new hotels for 2013. After visiting hundreds of properties, evaluated for style, location, comfort, service and value, they reduced their original list of 1 000 new hotels to launch the new Hot List of the world’s top 154 places to visit.
“As the only camp in Botswana to be included in this list, we are extremely proud of DumaTau and its team who continually go the extra mile to ensure that guests experience a life-changing journey in the Linyanti in far northern Botswana. We are also proud of the camp’s light footprint and commitment to our 4Cs philosophy (Commerce, Conservation, Community and Culture)”, says Dave van Smeerdijk, Wilderness Safaris Marketing and Sales Director.
Comprising only 10 luxury tents, DumaTau operates completely on solar energy, for hot water, lighting and other energy needs. It is located in the private 125 000-hectare Linyanti Concession, offering guests the opportunity to view a plethora of wildlife on day and night game drives or while on foot and on the water (levels permitting).
The region is well-known for its elephant concentrations and general wildlife viewing is excellent year round, including impala, wildebeest, red lechwe, Burchell's zebra and giraffe. Predator sightings of lion, leopard, wild dog and spotted hyaena are also very good.
