July 2014 – Wilderness Safaris is proud to announce its listing as the world’s fourth Top Safari Operator in the US Travel + Leisure 2014 World’s Best Awards. This recognition is particularly exciting as it acknowledges the importance of the responsible ecotourism industry in Africa. Wilderness Safaris scored 92.79 out of a possible 100 points, moving up from last year’s ranking when the company was named fifth Top Safari Operator.
“Once again, we are honoured that guests and readers of US Travel + Leisure voted for us amongst Africa’s best safari operators. We are committed to creating meaningful and life-changing wilderness experiences for our guests and look forward to continuing to share and appreciate the amazing natural environment in which we operate”, says Keith Vincent, Wilderness Safaris CEO.
As Africa’s leading ecotourism and conservation company, Wilderness Safaris owns and operates more than 60 camps, as well as set-departure guided Explorations in nine African countries, offering guests exclusive access to more than three million hectares of Africa’s best wildlife areas. Wilderness Touring, the company’s transfer and touring business, is situated in the tourism hubs of Cape Town, Victoria Falls and Windhoek. Wilderness also has its own bush airline, Wilderness Air, ensuring guests move from one place to the next without difficulty.
This is the third time the readers of Travel + Leisure in the US have awarded Wilderness Safaris this distinction. In addition to being rated fourth best safari operator, Wilderness Safaris’ Mombo Camp (including Little Mombo), in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, was also recognised in the Top 100 Hotels and was named the 6th Best Lodge or Resort in the Africa and Middle East category.
Representing the best in travel, the annual World's Best Awards are based on Travel + Leisure readers' ratings of hotels, destinations and companies around the globe. The results will be published in the magazine’s August issue. Click here to view Wilderness Safaris’ Top Safari Operator rating, and here to see the 2014 World’s Best Awards.
