On the 18th of October, Andersson’s Camp received its first reprieve in terms of rain. Although it was only 1 millimetre and it only rained for half an hour, it gave hope for more rain to come this season. It has been very hot and humid this month, ranging from between 28°C to 36°C. It cools down somewhat during the evenings however, so that we can enjoy some balmy nights and even some chilly mornings.
Game has been in abundance during the month at the Andersson’s waterhole making for good photo opportunities and fantastic sightings - including lion, leopard, giraffe, red hartebeest, wildebeest and many more.
The giraffe have taken a liking to the thorn trees inside the fence and have been caught on camera as they browse leaning over the fence. Seems they appreciate the saying that the grass is always greener on the other side....
The building of Andersson’s Camp’s hide is coming along quite well. The benches in the hide are almost completed as well as the window guards. All staff members and guests are very excited about the prospect of having such close encounters with a multitude of animals.
“Thank you for the warm and lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed every single moment!” Elisabeth, Chris and Roland – Germany.
“Arrived at Andersson’s Camp to be told that there were lion at the watering hole and that check in could wait… Brilliant! Made our day!” Graham and Lynn – Scotland UK
