Climate and Landscape
Overlooking a wide stretch of grass-covered floodplain, this authentic and stylish bush camp is built on a wooden deck just off the ground. Its setting is a sanctuary for quiet contemplation in the middle of Zambia’s wild Busanga Plains.

Wildlife
Busanga Bush Camp regulars include the lions that move in and around camp, taking advantage of the viewing deck to scan for the antelope – the latter providing a wonderful scenic backdrop from the front of camp.

September was a very productive month for sightings of cheetah, lion, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope, elephant, white-tailed mongoose, side-striped jackal, oribi, porcupine, buffalo, warthog, bushbuck, red lechwe, puku and countless bird species.

Sighting of the Month
The sighting of the month was watching a lone lion on a buffalo kill. That he was seen lying in the heart of the plains enjoying his buffalo meat in the open grassland was quite unusual.

Camp Activities
Boat cruises are popular for the wealth of biodiversity which they deliver, particularly birdlife and safe, close interaction with rafts of hippos. The magical sunsets are filtered through soft clouds to perfectly set the scene for welcome sundowners at the end of a long day. The game drives deliver nonstop action and we are regularly privileged to have exciting sightings. The hot air balloon flight never ceases to amaze our guests with the sweeping vistas it offers over the vast landscapes and wildlife of the Busanga Plains.

Staff News
Despite being in the middle of nowhere our camp hands just can’t stop offering guests wow experiences, whether through a beautiful dinner on the outside deck overlooking the plains or simply keeping our pathways tidy and clean.
