Weather and Landscape
We can feel that winter has arrived, as it is getting a little colder every day – in general the early mornings and evenings have been really cold, warming up by midday. We all made good use of the camp fire and the hot water bottles to help with the cold bite of winter. The minimum highs and lows for the month were 7° C and 32° respectively. Hopefully June does not surprise us with a cold snap or two.
Wildlife sightings have been really good this month – the evidence was the expressions that our guests had on their faces when returning from game drive. Everyone was amazed at how productive their game drives were.
A large male leopard has taken a liking to the camp surrounds, meaning there's usually either a great start or end to a game drive.
General game sightings have been great, especially along the Savute Channel, as most of the surface water has dried up as we await the arrival of the annual inundation. Elephant sightings in particular have been incredible.
Birds and Birding
Birding has been pretty good too this month despite all the summer migrants departing.
The raptor species have begun their breeding cycles and have been providing us with great sightings.
