May has been a very successful and exciting month! The water levels are high and the magnificence of the Delta is even more visible this month. The cool winter air is creeping in and the early mornings have been especially chilly. The green colours of summer have finally given way to the beautiful hues of the winter that turn the bush golden, brown and red.

The wildlife has been incredible! Boxer, the big male lion is back and was spotted several times to the western side of camp and at the end of the month he made an appearance at Seba Camp itself! At 3:00 in the morning he started roaring next to one of the management units and slowly made his way to the front of house area, he sniffed around a bit, and left the camp again after his investigation.

We have seen the resident female leopard with her two cubs a few times as well, once with an impala in a tree, just south of the airstrip. We have also had a male leopard wander through camp a few times and (if you listen carefully) you can hear him roaring some mornings from our bush dinner site.

We have finally located a hyaena den again! A mere ten minutes' drive from camp, under a big leadwood tree, and we can confirm that there are cubs - tiny, black, incredibly cute hyaena cubs! We hope they stay there for a while.

Some hyaena have also been visiting camp very regularly and love making an appearance at our bush dinners (the smell of the food must be too good). The resident troop of monkeys has been up to all kinds of mischief again and provide hours of entertainment for staff and guests alike.

General game sightings have matched the predator sightings this month as we have constantly enjoyed sightings of zebra, kudu, giraffe and wildebeest.

The water activities have been really great this month. With the water so high, mokoro is a must! The boat activities have been good too with catch-and-release fishing being one of the more favoured activities amongst our male guests this month.

As usual Seba has been a conundrum of wild encounters, exciting adventures, amazing birdlife and awe-inspiring beauty. With winter only starting now, we are all looking forward to the surprises the Delta and this concession has in store for us in the months to come.
