Where walking safaris first happened - join in!

Discover Kalamu Walking Trail. Find out more about this Exploration here.

South Luangwa National Park is renowned as the place in which walking safaris first took place in Africa. Set in the Luamfwa Concession in the southern sector of the Park, Kalamu Walking Trail sets out to explore the Luangwa River and its diverse environs. Walking takes place in unique "wilderness" areas where there are no vehicles or roads, while each night is spent at a 'one of a kind' camp: Chinengwe Riverbed Camp and Kalamu Star-Bed Camp on the banks of the River.
