Wildlife at Chintheche Inn

In and around Chintheche are pristine sandy beaches, patches of lowland tropical forest – and the Lake itself. Lake Malawi, Africa's third largest lake, has a wide range of underwater habitats, resulting in abundant wealth and diversity of mostly endemic aquatic life. Lake Malawi supports over 2 000 species of freshwater fish – a greater variety than any other lake on Earth, more than all of Europe and North America combined. The majority of these are colourful fish called cichlids of which Lake Malawi contains more than 400 types, or 30% of all known species.

A Quote From Our Guests

“ This is a beautiful small resort situated on a lovely stretch of beach on lake Malawi. The beach has white sand, plenty of trees and very nicely furnished with local crafts. Food was also great. ”
