Wildlife at North Island

The water’s around North Island are filled with abundant sea life. Hard and soft corals brighten the depths and are home to a colourful array of fish; whale sharks and tawny nurse sharks often move through seasonally. On the Island, giant tortoises and a variety of endemic birds are found, while fluorescent day geckos scramble around. Large Seychelles fruit bats, called flying foxes, are often seen. Depending on the season, Endangered green and hawksbill turtles emerge from the ocean to nest on the beaches.
