The Kalahari Desert makes up the majority of Botswana, within which lies the wondrous wetland of the Okavango Delta, sustaining a huge variety of fauna and flora. In the north-east, the Chobe and Linyanti reserves are renowned for their predators and large concentrations of game.

Central Kalahari

Dominating central Botswana, the five million-hectare Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the biggest protected areas in Africa. A place that may seem barren at first sight is in fact home to a full spectrum of plants and animals, as well as people (the ancient San or Bushman clans).

Linyanti

A place of woodland and unusual watercourses, the Linyanti in northern Botswana boasts the famous Savute Channel, once again a river in its own right, and the productive Linyanti River. This area is famous for its huge concentrations of elephant in the dry season and big game year round.
