Little Kulala - December 2008
29 Dec 2008
Dinner at Little Kulala is always a special event; we try to give guests different dining experiences every night. Sometimes the weather does dictate where we do these dinners. Normally in the late afternoon the wind picks up and plays havoc with our plans and we have to set dinner inside the lapa but sometimes we have the most amazing afternoons and evenings and therefore have the opportunity to really experience and capitalise on our spaces.
We've had some rain in the area with a few spectacular dust and rainstorms lasting until the early hours of the morning. The cloud build up is quite incredible during the day and often we see the clouds turning pink at the base because of the reflection off the red dunes. Having all the clouds around also makes for stunning sunsets. The joy seems to be only at Little Kulala though; the other camps missed out on some of our downpours and some puddles were found early morning around camp.
The beginning of December was slightly quiet and our staff joined in on a soccer tournament that was organised by Namib Sky. The boys tried their best but unfortunately were beaten by Namib Sky. Better luck next time LK!
We've had the pleasure of meeting a fantastic looking mantid. This individual decided to fly by for a visit and luckily a camera was handy!

We always have our fair share of amazing people at Little Kulala and these are just a few words some jotted down during December:
- "We would choose Wilderness Safaris for any future trip to Namibia and Southern Africa. Your ethos and quality of experience are second to none. Well done from a grumpy old man!"
- "Every day; very warm welcome by this very friendly and caretaking team. Highlight of our stay!"
- "As Shakespeare once said: Wonderful, wonderful and yet more wonderful!" [From As You Like It; ed]
