Limited Space Still Available for the 2016 Nedbank Tour de Tuli

Apr 1, 2016 | Wilderness Safaris

March 2016 Tour de Wilderness, the organiser of the highly-anticipated annual Nedbank Tour de Tuli, has announced that there are a limited number of places still available for mountain bikers to register for this year’s event. Set to take place from 28 July to 2 August 2016, this one-of-a-kind multi-stage mountain bike tour will take participants through pristine wilderness areas in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

“Preparations are well underway to ensure that the 12th edition of this unique event will surpass everyone’s expectations. On-site recces are at an advanced stage, with the Tour de Wilderness team scouting out a challenging and rewarding route that will excite Nedbank Tour de Tuli first-timers, while at the same time providing plenty of surprises for our seasoned regulars,” said Nicola Harris, Tour Director. The final route will be announced at a launch event in May.

The Nedbank Tour de Tuli provides cyclists with the unforgettable experience of exploring ancient elephant and other animal trails in the remote, protected wilderness areas of Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe with nothing but their mountain bikes and passports. Along the way, cyclists not only have the opportunity to see wildlife, but also enjoy magnificent scenery, cultural interactions and form long-lasting friendships, while at the same time contributing to a worthy cause.

All funds raised by the Tour are channelled directly into Children in the Wilderness (CITW), a non-profit organisation that runs sustainable education programmes to bridge the divide between communities and the wildlife areas they live next to. Over the last 11 years, the Tour has hosted close to 3 000 cyclists and raised over R16.85 million for CITW.

Renowned for its extremely high levels of service, the Tour is a personalised experience with all participants split into manageably-sized groups, each led by a dedicated Cyclist Leader, also on a mountain bike. Given the comprehensive safety complexities of this wilderness environment, it is a tour, not a race. The riders are offered the opportunity to savour these unique trails and to share life-changing experiences with like-minded people.
