June 2016 – Wilderness Safaris Linkwasha Camp has been recognised in Condé Nast Traveller’s prestigious 2016 Hot List as one of the best new hotels in the world, as well as the hottest new opening in Zimbabwe.

“It is our firm belief in Zimbabwe’s exceptional ecotourism potential that guided our decision to launch Linkwasha Camp in Hwange National Park in 2015. For this reason, we are very proud that the editors of Condé Nast Traveller are so excited about what this destination and Linkwasha have to offer, both in terms of its diverse wildlife and the high levels of service and experience we are able to provide”, said Ron Goatley, MD of Wilderness Safaris Zambezi region.

Wilderness Safaris’ commitment to Hwange and the wildlife and people of Zimbabwe is unparalleled. “Over the past decade, we have remained committed to pioneering sustainable ecotourism, funding and supporting a number of conservation and community initiatives with our non-profit partners, Children in the Wilderness (CITW) and the Wilderness Wildlife Trust. In addition to CITW camps and Eco-Clubs, we have provided ongoing support to the Scorpion Anti-Poaching Unit in the Park, as well as numerous upliftment and nutrition projects in our neighbouring communities”, Goatley added.

Condé Nast Traveller’s 2016 Hot List notes the revival of interest in Zimbabwe’s safari circuit and describes Linkwasha as “the closest signifier yet of renewed confidence in Zimbabwe’s future”. Linkwasha’s listing goes on to state that the camp offers twice-daily game drives with “some of the best wildlife guides on the continent”.

Linkwasha Camp is situated in a private game-rich concession in the south-eastern part of Hwange National Park. Designed to have a fresh and contemporary look, its nine en-suite luxury tents and main area overlook a productive waterhole. Activities make the most of the exceptional year-round wildlife-viewing opportunities the area has to offer, with regular sightings of large herds of elephant and buffalo, prides of lion, and an abundance of plains game and birdlife.
