Wilderness Safaris and The River Club end marketing and sales agreement

Mar 24, 2015 | Wilderness Safaris

March 2015 – After some 13 years and in an amicable agreement between both parties, The River Club will no longer be marketed as part of the Wilderness Safaris brand and portfolio.

The River Club in Zambia joined the Wilderness Safaris portfolio in 2002 and very quickly became a firm favourite.

Although having been an integral part of a Wilderness Safaris safari to both Botswana and Zimbabwe over the years, with travellers ending or starting their journeys at the Victoria Falls in Livingstone, it has been agreed by both parties that greater flexibility and independence are desirable for this iconic Zambezi River property.

As such as we delighted to announce that The River Club and its well-known owner, Peter Jones, have joined forces with Suzanne Bayly-Coupe and Classic Portfolio who will assume responsibility for all marketing and sales as of 1 April 2015.

“We regard Classic Portfolio as an ideal home for The River Club and look forward to working closely with both Peter and Suzanne in the future”, said Wilderness Safaris Chief Sales Officer, Dave Bennett. “We still believe strongly in Peter’s product and expect our support of the property to continue through our tour operating division, especially off the back of our Botswana safari circuit”.

Peter Jones echoed these sentiments saying: “The River Club has been an integral member of the Wilderness Safaris family for 13 years and has grown in stature over this time. As we start a new era with Classic Portfolio, we look forward to continued support from Wilderness Safaris, to build upon the special bond that we have created. We would like to thank everyone at Wilderness Safaris for the strong position we now find ourselves in and we are excited about our future with Suzanne, her team and the other privately-owned members of Classic Portfolio”.
