Climate and Landscape
August was quite cold at Damaraland Camp. On most mornings, the west wind started blowing early until late afternoon, bringing with it the cold air from the coast. The area was blessed with quite a lot of fog which is famous for helping all the plants and animals survive in this otherwise very dry area.
The elephant sightings were very exciting during the month and the guests especially enjoyed seeing the young bulls play with their mothers.
Early morning bush breakfasts were overcast and cold most mornings but there is nothing like a hot breakfast cooked on an open fire to start your day!
The Damaraland Camp swimming pool area recently received a facelift with new covers for the loungers and brightly-coloured towels scattered about, making siestas lazing at the pool even more inviting.
"Desert landscape and wildlife are fascinating. Not too much wildlife but the ones we saw were unique. Camp staff and guide were amazing and passionate."
