Climate and Landscape
“The beauty of a desert can only be fully appreciated in its driest state,” someone once said – and this is so true of Desert Rhino Camp.
But luckily during the month the area received some rain, albeit just 1 mm. This was over towards the eastern side but everyone hopes this bit of moisture will revitalise at least some of the grass and plants.
The guides had wonderful sightings this month, mostly of Topnotch and baby Troy.
The lions also visited the area, surprising some staff (Jack and Warren) at the barbeque area.
Bush dinners are a perennial hit with guests and this month our Valentine’s Day sundowners added an extra wow factor to guests’ al fresco experiences.
Desert Rhino Camp and the rest of Wilderness bid a very sad goodbye to guide Johan Cloete during February. Johan, your dedication and passion for what you do, as well as your gentle nature, will be greatly missed.
