Simon Stobbs completed a post graduate degree in psychology before working as a Human Resources Manager at an IT company for three years. However, in 1999, he decided to follow his passion instead, and began working as a guide in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa; 16 years later and he has never looked back!
During his subsequent years as a private guide, he developed a profound understanding of many African countries. His seven years at Wilderness Safaris has seen Simon develop a sincere appreciation of its 4Cs business model (Commerce, Conservation, Community and Culture) coupled with an unparalleled passion for sustainability.
His extensive experience in the safari industry includes both lodge-based and private guiding in several African countries, including Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. He also ran a tour operating business, working closely with Wilderness Safaris as a valued partner for many years.
He joined Wilderness Safaris as a senior guide for two years and has five years of experience in sales and marketing with the company. His invaluable safari experience and naturalist knowledge, coupled with his insights into the company from an agent’s perspective, stand him in good stead to drive Wilderness Safaris’ North American sales division to new heights.
In his spare time, Simon loves to give motivational talks that combine his two passions – psychology and nature – highlighting simple lessons from the bush that can be applied to a business environment. He also enjoys spending time with his family, bush holidays and playing the occasional round of golf.
