Ruckomechi Camp, Mana Pools, Zimbabwe

Little Ruckomechi is a Classic Camp

Painted Dog Conservation Project

Data collection in Mana Pools aids this project, which looks at the population status of wild dog in Zimbabwe as well as the human-wild dog conflict. It aims to protect and increase the range and number of wild dog through research, education and community involvement.

Green Operating Systems

Little Ruckomechi is powered by a hybrid system, combining a diesel powered generator that charges a bank of batteries which in turn supplies part of the camp with electricity through an inverter. Thanks to this, the generator only needs to operate for eight hours a day. In addition, each guest tent has its own small solar panel and inverter to power LED lights as well as a solar-powered geyser to provide hot water.

Cheetah Conservation Project Zimbabwe

Little Ruckomechi assisted in collecting data for this project, which carried out population surveys to find out where cheetah occur, their population sizes and the challenges they face in Zimbabwe.

4Cs Projects at Little Ruckomechi

Our conservation initiatives in Zimbabwe have been tailored to address the most pressing threats to the survival of wildlife with fruitful partnerships and encouraging successes very evident. Our concession in Mana Pools National Park is no exception.
